Facelift

As people age, the skin on the face begins to sag and become deeply lined.  Skin around the mouth, chin, and jawline droops and takes on a "jowly" look, and the chin and neck become fatty and folded.

Facelift (rhytidectomy) is a procedure designed to eliminate the excess skin and sagging around the neck, chin, and mouth in order to rejuvenate the patient's face so that it looks smoother, more taught, and years younger.

Incisions are made inside the natural folds of the skin in the preauricular area and under the chin if necessary, as well as close to hairline. The incisions are made in locations where the resulting scars will be inconspicuous. Areas of fat are sucked out through the cannula, a special, gentle suction tube. Some of the fat that is removed is reinjected into other areas of the body for natural rejuvenation. Muscle tissue is stretched to obtain a tightened cervico-mandibular (neck) region. Doing so allows the patient to avoid the artificial look that results from simply stretching skin.

The end result is a smoother, younger looking face.

Eyelid Surgery

Droopy eyelids and bags beneath the eyes can make a person look older and more tired than he or she actually feels.  Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) involves the removal of excess fat, muscle, and skin from around the eye in order to smooth out the eye area, giving the patient a more youthful and vibrant appearance.

Eyelid surgery usually requires local anesthesia combined with a sedative. The incisions are done over the skin folds and wrinkles. Excess skin and fat bags are carefully removed. Afterward, delicate sutures are applied with very thin threads or intradermal stitches in order to produce inconspicuous scars.

Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)

A bad nose can set even the most perfect features off-balance.  One of the most common cosmetic procedures, rhinoplasty changes the size and shape of the nose to substantially improve the overall balance and appearance of one's face.

There are many ways to refine the nose, including reshaping the ramp, tip, or both, reducing the size, straightening crookedness, resizing the nostrils, or changing the angle and how it slants to the upper lip.  The procedure is generally done under local anesthesia, depending on the case. The doctor reshapes the internal frame (the bone and cartilage of the nose), operating through the nostrils. The skin adjusts spontaneously over the newly-formed structure.

Chin Surgery

Chin surgery, or mentoplasty, can enhance a weak chin and is sometimes done in conjunction with nose surgery in order to achieve balanced facial proportions.

Performed under local anesthesia with a sedative, chin surgery involves the surgeon placing a small synthetic implant over the bone to improve the contour of the chin.  The surgeon may also opt to inject an alloplastic liquid tissue expander directly over the mandibular bone to create a new projected contouring. The end result is a face that has a more harmonious balance of features.

Ear Surgery

Large, protruding ears can make a person feel uncomfortable due to the unwelcome attention they invite.  Ear surgery (otoplasty) reshapes the ears and pulls them closer to the head. The procedure is commonly performed on children from the age of six to adults of any age to improve their self-esteem and make them a less obvious target for teasing.

Lip Augmentation

Lip augmentation enhances the volume and definition of the lips.  Whether a patient wants to make thin lips fuller or reverse the signs of aging on the mouth, lip augmentation is a possible solution.

Facial Implants

Facial implants can be used to improve the contour of the jaw line, chin , and cheekbones, as well as to attenuate facial folds and wrinkles.  Implants are strategically molded and placed over the bone and under the skin to improve the face's structure.  Implants can help bring a younger patient's facial features into balance or enhance and smooth out a more mature patient's features to correct a "sunken" appearance.

BOTOX®  Cosmetic

Many factors, such as excessive repetition of expressions and the effects of aging and gravity can take a toll on the delicate facial skin.  BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to smooth out wrinkles and provide rejuvenation to the face.  Patients may opt for BOTOX® injections in order to diminish muscle mobility and partially erase large wrinkles, such as crow's feet, forehead lines, and frown lines, or smaller wrinkles, such as those that form around or under the eyes.

Peeling (Dermabrasion)

Dermabrasion, or facial peeling, can be a great remedy to skin sequelae resulting from acne treatment. Dr. Marcelo Daher performs the dermabrasion treatment after administering either local or general anesthesia, depending on the treatment area. A rotating tool with a diamond-encrusted tip is applied to the skin, removing the epidermis and partially removing the dermis. The removal of these skin layers encourages the growth of fresh, smoother skin. Dermabrasion is also a great treatment for the perpendicular wrinkles around the lips.
